Question 1

What is CommitPlus (Commit+)?

Accepted Answer

CommitPlus (also searched as commit plus) is the name used for the Commit+ Git client for macOS. It is designed to streamline your Git workflow with a clean, intuitive interface while remaining free and open source.

Question 2

Is Commit+ free to use?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Commit+ is free and open source under the AGPLv3 license. Guest mode and local Git workflows do not require an account. Optional Commit+ cloud services and Pro features use the plan shown on the pricing page.

Question 3

Which macOS versions are supported?

Accepted Answer

CommitPlus requires an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 26.2 or later.

Question 4

Can I use Commit+ with self-hosted Git repositories?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Commit+ works with any Git repository, whether it is hosted on GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps, or your own self-hosted server.

Question 5

How do I report a bug or request a feature?

Accepted Answer

Use the Get support button below to send us the details, or open an issue on our GitHub repository. We appreciate all feedback and contributions from the community.

Question 6

Does Commit+ collect any personal data?

Accepted Answer

If you create an optional Commit+ account, we store the Firebase account information needed to sign you in, your subscription entitlement, synced settings you choose to enable, and a random app-generated device ID with generic Mac, macOS, and app-version details for signed-in device limits. Repository contents, local paths, Git history, credentials, and Git activity are not part of that device registry.

Question 7

How do signed-in device limits work?

Accepted Answer

Free accounts can be signed in on 1 Mac, and active Pro accounts on up to 3 Macs. Guest mode does not consume a slot and local Git remains available. You can sign out, remove another Mac in Manage Account, or replace a Mac when signing in at the limit.
